Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026. Plain English, no legal fog.

The Short Version

iSnapStoryView is designed to know as little about you as possible. We don't have accounts, so we don't store names, emails or passwords. We don't sell data — we don't even collect data worth selling.

What We Store

  • Anonymous story cache (30 minutes). When anyone looks up a username, the public story result is cached for 30 minutes so repeat views are fast, then automatically discarded. The cache is keyed by username, not by visitor.
  • Rate-limit counters. We count requests per IP address (30 per 10 minutes) to prevent abuse. These counters contain no browsing history and expire automatically.
  • Messages you send us. If you use the contact form or the profile-removal form, we store what you typed (name, email, message) so we can reply and process your request. Removal requests are kept as a record that your profile must stay excluded.
  • Basic server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard web-server logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamps) for security and diagnostics, typically for a short retention period.

What We Never Collect

  • Your name, email or phone number (unless you contact us).
  • Your Snapchat credentials — we never ask for them, anywhere.
  • Your search history — your "recent searches" list is stored only in your own browser (localStorage). We never receive it.
  • Advertising profiles, cross-site trackers or fingerprinting scripts.

Cookies

iSnapStoryView itself sets no tracking cookies. Your browser's localStorage holds your recent-search list on your device only. If we add analytics in the future, it will be privacy-respecting and disclosed here first.

Who Sees Your Data

Nobody, except: our hosting provider (who stores the server files), and authorities if required by law. We do not share, sell or rent any personal data to third parties.

Data Retention

  • Story cache: 30 minutes.
  • Rate-limit counters: 10 minutes.
  • Contact messages: until resolved, then up to 12 months.
  • Removal requests: kept permanently as an exclusion record (username only), so the profile is never fetched again.

Your Rights

You may ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or object to processing, by contacting us via the contact form. Because we deliberately hold almost nothing, in most cases the answer will be "nothing".

Children

iSnapStoryView is a general-audience tool. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Parents: the service only displays content creators chose to make public.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Note: This is a plain-English policy written for transparency, not a substitute for legal advice. If you operate iSnapStoryView commercially, have it reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction.
